A Legacy of Coconut Harvesting

Our story begins with our Founder Debra Hill, a woman whose life has been intertwined with the coconut palms of Emirau Island since childhood. Growing up, coconut harvesting wasn’t just a way of life; it was a way to build a future. It provided the means for Debra and her siblings to pursue education far from home, in the bustling center of Rabaul.

 

These early experiences laid the foundation for what would become Niugini Organics a testament to the power of hard work, community, and the endless possibilities that come from our rich land.

Building a Future Together

In 1994, Debra and her late husband Dennis, established Tropic Frond Oils with a vision that went beyond business. They wanted to create opportunities for their community, transforming the local coconut harvesting into a source of livelihood and pride for the people of New Britain. What started in a small shed in Rabaul has now grown into a thriving enterprise that has been producing premium coconut oil for 30 years and exporting Niugini Organics products since 2008.

 

Our Community, Our Strength

Today, Niugini Organics is more than just a company—it’s a community.

We’re proud to employ over 40 local men and women who share our passion for quality and sustainability. We partner with over 130 independent local growers who harvest organic coconuts from their own land, ensuring that every product we create is ethically and sustainably sourced. Our factory in Keravat spans 1,150 square meters, with modern production lines and a well-equipped lab, making us a major employer in the region and a vital part of our local economy.

Our certified organic virgin coconut oil and soaps can now be found on shelves across Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, and right here in Papua New Guinea.
